Venice , 1681. Corradino Manin is a master glass maker on Murano, at the height of Venice 's dominance of the glass making craft. The rulers of Venice ruthlessly protect their monopoly on their techniques, so when Corradino sells his secrets to the King of France; he knows he’s risking his life. Centuries later his descendant, Leonora Manin escapes her unhappy life, determined to apprentice as a glassblower in the city of her ancestors. A gifted artist, her famous last name places her in danger in the ancient foundries when timeless rivalries rise to the surface.
