ArtAccents Bilingual Tours: Crocodile/Cocodrilo

NEW! ArtAccents  Bilingual Family Tours offer children  6-12 years old and their adult companions an opportunity to immerse themselves in art and language through interactive gallery tours led by educators who are fluent in Spanish and English.  Families will practice language together in a creative, arts-enriched environment in order to strengthen language acquisition and familiarity, critical thinking skills, and intergenerational learning. Tours will be led by bilingual museum educators who will guide participants through exploration, conversation, and discovery.
Art Accents is limited to 20 children. One adult chaperone is required for every two children.
Please include participating child's name and age when registering online.

In the event this program is sold out, please email community outreach to be placed on the wait list.

Please note: Art Accents programs are $10 per member’s child, and $15 per non-member. Accompanying adults will enjoy free admission. Online pre-registration required.

Fall 2013 (August-January) Program registration will be available in July: July 1 - Member registration begins; July 8 - Public registration begins. Museum members can register early for this popular series! 


Acentos Artísticos se ofrece por primera vez en el museo Walters el otoño 2013. Los niños entre las edades de 6-12 años y sus familias practicarán los idiomas juntos en un ambiente creativo, dotado de arte para fomentar el aprendizaje y la familiaridad lingüística, e pensamiento crítico, y el aprendizaje multigeneracional. Las visitas estarán dirigidas por educadores bilingües del museo los cuales guiarán a los visitantes por las galerías para practicar español por medio de exploración, la plática, y el descubrimiento. Los participantes de Acentos Artísticos disfrutarán de temas mensuales escogidos por los educadores del museo, que correspondan a menudo a nuestra exhibición especial.

El aforo de Acentos Artísticos es de 20 niños. Se requiere un/a acompañante adulto/a por cada dos niños. Por favor, absténgase de llevar hermanos y si es necesario, hable con el/la profesor/a antes de la clase para evaluar la situación.

Por favor, incluya el nombre y la edad del joven participante cuando registre por Internet.

En caso de que el aforo se llene, por favor, envíe un correo electrónico a community outreach para ponerse en la lista de espera.

Nota bene: El precio del programa Accentos Artísticos es de $10 por niño del socio y $15 a los que no disponen de membresia. El adulto acompañante disfrutará admisión gratuita.  Se requiere un pre-registro para este programa. El registro para los programas de otoño (octubre-enero) tiene lugar en julio. Todo registro tiene lugar en el Internet. Los socios del museo reciben el beneficio de registro a primera hora.

Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture

Andean textile specialist Dr. Anne Tiballi, the Andrew W. Mellon Curricular Facilitator at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, will present “Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture.” During this engaging talk, Dr. Tiballi will explore the production of ancient American textiles, examine their significance, and discuss their impact on the broader material culture of the ancient Americas.
