Baltimore Book Festival Weekend

Visit our booth on Charles Street for fun book-themed activities and don't forget to stop in the museum for our many activities.

Now in its final weekend, focus show, Living by the Book: Monks, Nuns and Their Manuscripts displays medieval books not as stagnant, dusty tomes, but living objects with remarkable stories to tell about a monastic culture that flourishes to this day.

Now on view, Jacob Lawrence's Genesis Series features eight works, each describing a passage from the book of Genesis in the King James version of the Bible.

Visit our Book Sale at the Museum Store and enjoy discounts on a huge selection of art books and museum catalogs.

At the conservation window, talk with our conservators as they work to preserve book and paper art objects. All weekend, from 12:30-4pm.

Drop-in Art Activities: "Books! Libros! Livres!" for book-themed art activities for the whole family Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Join us for one of our free, weekly walk-in tours this Sunday at 1 p.m. featuring highlights of the collection of the Walters Art Museum

Collecting Histories and Collecting Mysteries: Great Art Collectors of America's Gilded Age

Inge Reist will bring alive the personalities of Gilded Age collectors as they formed some of America’s most dazzling and admired collections. Her talk will also explore their motivations and methods of acquisition, as well as their philanthropic legacies. Reist is Director of the Center for the History of Collecting at the Frick Collection and Frick Art Reference Library.

NEW! Join us for a brand-new family drawing workshop! Young artists are invited to strengthen their observational drawing skills and build their portfolios while exploring works of art in the Walters’ collection. Let go of preconceived notions of drawing and find freedom in line, expression, and mark-making. Recommended for ages 9–13 and their favorite adults.
