The Walters Art Museum invites you to spend an afternoon exploring the land of the rising sun. Climb Mt. Fuji, step foot in the temples of Tokyo, and island-hop the length of Japan! Discover the world of tea ceremonies, origami, and bonsai. Suit up with samurai as we experience the rich cultural history of this island nation of East Asia. Guided by museum educators, your scouts’ voyage across the Pacific Ocean and over mountainous terrain will showcase the traditions of Japan. From calligraphy to kabuki theater, the art of the east will continue to inspire creative thinking from the galleries to the studio. Daisy Girl Scouts will work towards their Gloria Petal, Brownie Girl Scouts will work towards their Potter badge, Junior Girl Scouts will work towards their Playing the Past badge, and Cub Scouts will work towards their Art Academics Pin or Belt Loop during this two-hour exploration!
