Members Opening - Designed for Flowers: Contemporary Japanese Ceramics

Members of the Walters Art Museum are invited to be among the first to view this exciting exhibition. The Japanese art of flower arranging, or Ikebana, has inspired the creation of extraordinary ceramic containers. This exhibition displays a wide variety of contemporary ceramics, unified by their engagement with Japan's long tradition of ceramic art. 

Join us for this preview of the exhibition with an introduction by the curator, Robert Mintz.

Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture

Andean textile specialist Dr. Anne Tiballi, the Andrew W. Mellon Curricular Facilitator at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, will present “Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture.” During this engaging talk, Dr. Tiballi will explore the production of ancient American textiles, examine their significance, and discuss their impact on the broader material culture of the ancient Americas.
