Islamic Arts Family Festival

This museum-wide extravaganza, inspired by the exhibition Pearls on a String: Artists, Patrons, and Poets at the Great Islamic Courts, will feature dancers, storytellers, musicians, and artists. Families will participate in hands-on art activities using a variety of media to learn about Islamic arts and cultures. All ages welcome.

ART ACTIVITIES

11 a.m.–4 p.m.
Written Identity: Explore your identity through calligraphy       
Henna Hands: Create unique Henna designs on scratch board     
Patron Treasures: Decorate a special box to capture dreams of a patron

PERFORMANCES

Noon–1 p.m.
Monir Hossain performing traditional Indian music

Noon–1 p.m. and 2–3 p.m.
Explore the museum and look for Waltee as he roams the galleries

1–2 p.m.
Lori “Yasmina” Clark demonstrating middle-eastern dances

3–4 p.m.
Silk Road Dance Company performing Adventures from the Persian Book of Kings
