Peabody on the Court Music Series

This spring's final Peabody on the Court Music Series concert will feature the Peabody Consort performing "In the Circle of Henry VIII" featuring music from the courts of Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, James I, and King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain.  This concert will also include a set of Sephardic Romances, traditional music of the Sephardim expelled from Spain in 1492.  

This dynamic series of Free First Friday noon concerts on the Walters’ Sculpture Court continues a partnership with the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University which dates from the 1960s. This is the final performance of the Spring 2013 season.  This series will resume in October 2013.

Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture

Andean textile specialist Dr. Anne Tiballi, the Andrew W. Mellon Curricular Facilitator at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, will present “Learning by Watching: Andean Textiles and the Fabric of Culture.” During this engaging talk, Dr. Tiballi will explore the production of ancient American textiles, examine their significance, and discuss their impact on the broader material culture of the ancient Americas.
