William and Henry Walters: Two Generations of Collectors

Date
Sunday, February 3, 2013
Time
02:00 PM–03:00 PM
William and Henry Walters: Two Generations of Collectors

$15 per person; Pre-registration required.

During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Mount Vernon Place gained fame for its beautiful mansions and buildings designed by the leading architects and artisans of the day. The wealthy industrialists and financiers who lived in Mount Vernon Place also set the standard for art collecting in Baltimore. Both William and Henry Walters were major collectors during this time, amassing a vast collection that was later bequeathed to the people and City of Baltimore. Please join William R. Johnston, Walters' Curator Emeritus At Large, as he explores the history and legacy of two of Baltimore's most famous men in his talk, "William and Henry Walters: Two Generations of Collectors." This lecture, the third in a series titled "Mount Vernon Place: The Genesis of Art Collecting in Baltimore," is presented in partnership with The Garrett-Jacobs Mansion Endowment Fund.

For more information, and to register for this talk, please visit The Garrett Jacobs Mansion Endowment Fund or call 410-539-6914.
